IVF Success Rate

Your chances of success with IVF

A patient’s capability to fertilize and conceive a child declines with age. If a patient is utilising their own ova, in general, the younger they are the higher their probability of a positive result.

The most recent data is available for 2010 in which year women patients going through in vitro fertilisation (IVF) using freshly fertilized embryos created with their own fresh follicles, the portion of total number of cycles begun that resulted in a non-mortal pregnancy (national averages) was:

  • 32.2% for women aged under 35
  • 27.7% for patients aged between 35-37
  • 20.8% for patients aged between 38-39
  • 13.6% for patients aged between 40-42
  • 5.0% for patients aged between 43-44
  • 1.9% for patients aged 45 and over

It is to be noted that in In vitro fertilization (IVF) and intra-cytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) success rates are quite the same and are no longer presented apart from each other. There these statistics are applicable for both IVF and ICSI.
